TRACK 1: El Portillo - La Guancha. (Updated)

This is the first track I registered quite a while ago. It is one the most beautiful and awsome routes in the island. Spectacular views of El Teide in a very easy track from the main road in Las Cañadas:  28°17'44.67"N ,  16°33'56.15"O. No water supply in the Teide area. You will find two spots to refill downhill in Barranco de la Arena (picnic area) and after that in El Lagar (picnic area).

WHO AM I?

Hi, I am a Canarian teacher, presently living in Tenerife island and I am a great fan of mountain biking.
My first contact with mountain bike was a long time ago.

I first bought a cheap bike, it was not very comfortable but it was enough to make me love this sport. It was on Orbea, a Spanish  brand, I used it for 2 years. No big deal really but it was fun. That time I was living in Barcelona city so I used to ride in what is called Collserola Natural Park, very near the city.
I very soon gathered with other bikers, we used to ride together for about 25 kms. It was quite nice and interesting. I learnt a lot from those guys, their abilities were, by far, better than mine so I soon realised I needed to improve my bicycle; Thus I bought my second bike, it was on Orbea Rallon, endura type, 120mm front suspension, and 100mm rear suspension, disk brakes (Magura & Shimano), 2,10mm tyres. Not a pro but enough to continue learning from my friends.

I never had serious accidents on my bike when riding offroad but a couple of them when on the road: I was run over by a motorbike in Barcelona city, sent to hospital and a broken elbow, couple of years later I was run over by a car in Tenerife and sent to hospital again, some scratches and torn clothes, and the firm conviction that I'd never ride on a paved road again.

After those years in Barcleona I moved to Tenerife and soon bought my present bike: a Merida 20. Light endura, all puropose, 26", 130mm Fox fork, 120mm Shimano Disk brakes, 2,10mm tyres...

Now back to my blog on the 21st April 2017, many things have changed including my bike. After quite a few years riding on 26" I realised that, according to my height (1,90 mts) I'd fell and ride more comfortably on a 29", so I did it, I went to my favourite bike shop (GOFIS BIKE) https://www.facebook.com/gofisbici1/, which I strongly recommend for you if you bring your bike and need technical assistance or if you need to buy a good bike at a reasonable price.

Their are specialized in MERIDA bikes and so I got a double suspension Merida 29". Very happy with it now.
